CLUBBERS in Bolton will soon be able to fortify themselves with a good old British breakfast after a long night's dancing.

Bar Juice has won a public entertainment licence to open until 8am on Saturday mornings, bringing an "Ibiza-style experience" to Bolton.

We believe this can only be a positive move and will bring Bolton firmly into the 21st century when it comes to nightlife. Enjoy a night out in many of the European capitals and you'd be hard pressed to find a nightclub that closes its doors at 2am. Most of them stay open until dawn at least and breakfast of some variety is always on the menu.

Now Bolton is adopting this policy and, apart from the obvious benefits to hungry revellers, it will hopefully prevent a glut of clubbers spilling onto the streets at two o clock. Not only that, according to many, a good old fry-up is the best cure for a hangover, so perhaps the early morning opening will also prevent potential trouble. We certainly hope so.

And as the key words seem to be "urban development" these days, surely if clubbers stay inside a club to satisfy their after-drinking food cravings, it will hopefully help to clear the streets of discarded greasy chip papers, unsightly burger wrappers and soggy pizza boxes.

Still, one thing remains to be seen.

Just how many folk will actually manage to stay awake until eight in the morning?
