Netherfield CC 184-5 Chorley CC 185-4

A WONDERFUL day's cricket saw Chorley gain revenge for their Nuffield Cup Final defeat by denying Netherfield their fourth trophy of the season in the Slater Cup Final at Windsor Park on Sunday.

Vaughan was then out, stumped superbly off an Oakes wide for one of the season's most bizarre dismissals and Bannister chipped in to get rid of Moyes and the hard-hitting Clarke. Little, dropped early on, then made an unbeaten 44 to steer his side to a very combative 184-5. Chorley also lost two early wickets, Hartley removing Patel and Bannister in a superb opening spell.

Senior, though, after a scratchy start, blossomed, crashing Little and Clement for big sixes on his way to an unbeaten and quick 35. But Horridge, despite only finding the ropes on four occasions, was the rock.

His unbeaten 62 was a stupendous effort of will in adverse conditions and, when the first ball of the final over from Little went whistling to the boundary for four wides, he had every reason to reflect on a truly fantastic turn round in Chorley's season since he resumed the captain's armband
