Wanderers returned from the Hawthorns with three priceless points following a performance full of endeavour and commitment.

After weathering an early bout of Albion attacking, they took the lead with Isaiah Rankin opening his account with a well-placed shot after being set up by a superbly executed backpass by Bo Hansen.

As the match progressed, Wanderers - inspired by another influential display by Per Frandsen - began to play the pass and move game with which they have become synonymous and their superiority was confirmed in the 75th minute when Gareth Farrelly struck a well-taken second goal.

This was essentially a team performance but mention must be made of Anthony Barness who is looking a terrific signing - cool and assured at the heart of a resolute defence - while Dean Holdsworth, despite lack of match practice, gave a tremendous substitute display, full of tenacity and determination.

Big Sam orchestrated events from the touchline, having to reorganise as once again injury disrupted his team. He even rolled back the years at one point, planting the ball back into play with a firmly-placed header!

For Albion, former Bolton favourite Richard Sneekes gave his usual inventive and skilful contribution but lacked support while another Wanderers' old-boy, Bob Taylor, briefly lifted the fans on his introduction. But Albion failed to maintain any sustained pressure and many of the home crowd had left before the final whistle.

Man of the Match - Per Frandsen.
