LANCASHIRE Road Club time trialists ventured into Merseyside for two events this weekend and were rewarded with fine times and for probably the first time this season, fine weather.
Saturday saw a 10 mile race on the Rainford bypass near Skelmsersdale which was run in fine and bright but windy conditions.
Dene Fisher and Lee McCarty were the fastest of the LRC contingent with 22:27 and 23:17.
Pete Greyum riding one of his infrequent events was the third fastest LRC rider in 25:41, Ian Ainsworth produced 26:53, Mike Darcy 27:19 and Alex Munro 28:05.
A 25 mile event was held at Tarleton on Sunday morning in still but cool conditions which proved to be ideal for Mike Bland who produced a personal best time for the distance of 1:02:51.
Fastest LRC rider was Dene Fisher in 57:46 the closest club members to him being Lee McCarty 1:00:30 and Frank Kerry 1:01:58, Ian Ainsworth completed the course in 1:08:00 but Chris Smiths misfortunes continued when he punctured before the start for the second time in as many weeks on the same course.
One of the clubs top veterans, Colin Greenhalgh, ventured even further afield by travelling up to the Stockton area to produce a fine ride of 1:02:16 for 25 miles.
Next week sees the running of the LRC promoted OEEddie Leece, 25 mile time trial on the L2525 course at Brock which has attracted a fine field of over 90 riders.
LRC club runs will continue as usual throughout the racing season with club runners meeting outside the Royal Oak pub on Tonge Moor Road at 8.30am.
Anyone wishing to join the run should turn up on the day with a roadbike.
