Adlington CC entered the quarter finals of the Finestyle Windows Competition when they beat Little Lever XI 279-235. Adlington batted first and received 220 runs start, they were dismissed for 22 runs.

Little Lever XI then batted and had a time limit of 20 minutes. At the end of time Little Lever had scored 162 runs with two batters remaining. Julie Bluer, 38 runs, Angela Farthing, 34 runs, Paddy Gregory, 31 runs, and Zoe Bluer, 18 runs, being the top scorers.

Adlington batted a second time and scored a useful 37 runs which left the Little Lever side requiring 118 runs for victory.

When Little Lever batted for the second time, Adlington played a good tactical game and restricted the runs. Little Lever lost batters cheaply and were dismissed for 73 runs with 8 minutes batting time still remaining.

Bay Mare Ladies received 100 runs start against Prices 'A' and at the half time interval they had lost the runs start when they trailed 119-127.

Prices then added 103 runs in their second innings.

Bay Mare then lost one player through illness and one player with a serious shoulder injury which resulted in Bay Mare declaring their second innings leaving Prices 'A' the victors.

Superior Pet XI who had lost their unbeaten record the previous week in the league to Lower Pools met in this competition.

Superior Pet XI gained revenge with an innings win of 147(1)-143.

Hatfield 'A' beat Highfield XI 138(1)-116 which included 40 runs start.

Tracy O'Brian, 27 runs, Angie Philips, 16 runs, Julie Lindley, 17 runs and Ruth Taylor, 18 runs, being the top scorers.

Bradbury Ladies had a good win over Darcy Lever CC 'B' 293-247.

Although Bradbury received 165 runs start, the deciding factor in this game was the 128 runs scored by the Bradbury team.

In the Dorothy Clare Competition the local derby between Church Inn and Royal Hotel.

Royal Hotel had a nervous win 138-129 over their rivals.

Church Hotel 'B' managed to beat CRS 192-189.

The 120 runs start to Church Hotel 'B' proved that the handicap was spot on.

VBQ beat Daves Shoes Keys 164-160, again the handicap was proved right with Daves Shoes Keys having a 40 runs start.

The Barbers Shop secured their points of the season when they beat Heaton CC 'B' 141-79.

The White Horse Ladies (I) also had their win of the season when they beat Leverhulme XI 169-162.

Only five teams remain pointless and Horwich RMI nearly reduced it to four when they played Heaton XI.

At the half time interval Horwich trailed by just 9 runs, 72-81.

Horwich then scored 89 runs leaving Heaton XI requiring 82 runs for victory.

Heaton then lost eight batters for a total of 16 runs but Kathryn Fletcher, 30 runs, Melanie Adamson, 23 runs, and Mary Foster, 23 runs, saw Heaton home, 185-161.

On Friday, July 21, the Bolton Senior Inter League team play Bury at Bolton Road Sports Club, Elton Vale Road, off Ainsworth Road, Bury.

Apollo Ladies beat Prices 'A' 84(1)-81. The three sisters Bernie Lloyd, 15 runs, Helen Bradley, 11 runs, and Mary Bentley, 10 runs, were top scorers for Apollo.

Prices then faced some top class bowling from Mary Bentley and were soon dismissed for 34 runs.

Prices then batted a second time and followed a similar pattern to the first and were dismissed for 47 runs.

Imago just got the better of Darcy Lever CC 'C' 155-153 in the 'D' section game.

Central Garage Doors and MSJ Ladies won their semi-final game and will meet in the final of the Pike Shield.
