YOUR correspondent Doreen Crowther rightly commented on the low attendance at the recent violin recital by Leland Chen in the Albert Halls.
Oh, Bolton music-loving public, how could you have missed this one? This brilliant violinist has more musical talent in his little finger than most exponents of other musical cultures, who, strangely enough, might have filled the hall. Leland Chen deserved much more, and it is to his credit that his professional integrity would not permit him to deliver less than his best to the small but highly appreciative audience.
It was no doubt a typographical error in your correspondent's report that no mention was made of the highlight of the performance -- Sarasate's 'Zapateado'. It was sheer wizardry!
