By Jane Bullock. JUST when it seemed the 33,000 strong crowd might finally combust with excitement, a track from the latest album, "F***in' in the Bushes", ushered Oasis on stage and they strolled towards the audience looking as if they had never been away

Liam shouted "How you doin' Manchester" and "Go Let It Out" from the latest album kicked off proceedings and proved his voice is in good form.

Both Liam and Noel looked remarkably well and it was difficult to imagine Mr Gallagher junior had recently split from his wife.

"Who Feels Love", also from "Standing on the Shoulder of Giants" allowed Liam to show he is a dab hand with a tambourine and he cut a dashing figure in his black outfit complete with all-encompassing anorak.

It was only when Oasis played the opening bars of "Supersonic" that everyone remembered why they are still classed as the greatest rock and roll band in the world.

The crowd went absolutely wild for what is surely one of the best songs Noel has ever written.

"Shaker Maker" kept up the momentum, but the poor acoustics marred the song slightly and it sounded muffled and almost tinny from the stands.

Noel also proved his vocal chords are in fine fettle by singing "Acquiesce" from the B-sides album, "The Masterplan".

His vocal efforts were not only appreciated by the audience-- his younger brother even gave him a round of applause.

Noel continued proceedings by singing "Step Out", which was the B-side of the huge hit "Don't Look Back In Anger".

But he had to give up after playing only a few chords and swap guitars, blaming his guitar tuner.

The second attempt at the song proved worthwhile and Noel really seemed relaxed and looked like he was having a whale of a time.

It all got a bit prog-rock dreary by the stage of "Gas Panic", which is from the latest album.

The crowd, which had been busy up to now moshing away, looked bored and restless.

But if the audience had looked fed-up only minutes earlier, everyone was more than mad for it when the band launched into "Roll With It". This was a definite favourite with the crowd and dramatically rescued the atmosphere after the previous two numbers.

"Roll With It" also suffered from patchy sound quality with feedback from the speakers putting a scowl on Liam's handsome face.

Liam and Noel shared their vocal talents on "Stand By Me" which is probably the strongest track from the third album, "Be Here Now".

"Wonderwall" was certainly a highlight of the show, with Noel in extremely good voice and raising a laugh among the audience by mouthing "I love you" at the camera which flashed his image high above the stage.

It does not look as though Liam will take too long to get over the lovely Patsy as he shouted to a girl in the crowd "You're Lovely" before wondering if he had been mistakenly eyeing up a fella!

The final three songs before the band went off stage and returned for the encore were absolute blinders and sent the crowd into a mad, swirling frenzy of flailing limbs.

"Cigarettes and Alcohol" found a menacing looking Liam swaggering about the stage looking like a huge star which of course he is.

Liam's staring eyes projected from the big screen ended the track before a few mad moments of psychedelic images along with a manic musical interlude.

"Don't Look Back In Anger" was fantastic with Noel generously allowing the audience to sing the chorus without him.

"Live Forever" was also a corker with the spectacular ending of John Lennon's face gradually appearing on the screen above the stage and Liam posing with his back to the audience.

The crowds were still hungry for more and the band obliged by playing three encore numbers.

Noel opened the encores with what could have been a Neil Young number called "Hey, Hey, My, My", but it was difficult to hear anything said by any him or Liam in between songs.

Not really a good choice to come back on stage with after three such classics before the break.

"Champagne Supernova" also slowed down the action, but allowed everyone to whip out their lighters in true Barry Manilow fashion and sway along to what is a truly beautiful song.

The very final track, "Rock 'N' Roll Star", had everyone up and dancing and was a fine choice to close what was a night to remember at the Reebok.
