GERMAN international Matthias Hagner is looking to Bolton Wanderers to revive his once flourishing career.

The 26-year-old midfielder linked up with Sam Allardyce's Danish based squad for training yesterday and this afternoon gets the chance to impress against Lyngby.

"He's got an impressive CV," agrees Allardyce of Hagner who has played for Eintracht Frankfurt, VFB Stuttgart and latterly Borussia Munchengladbach.

"He would cost us a fee, possibly around £350,000, but he could be a useful acquisition. And just because Borussia are prepared to let him go it doesn't mean he couldn't do a good job for Bolton Wanderers.

"We'll have to take a look at him first and then consider our options."

Allardyce's assistant Phil Brown told BEN Sport: "If he's the right man then it strengthens Sam's hand when he goes to the Board to ask for the money."

Hagner, a right sided player, has won over 20 caps for his country since making his debut against Poland in 1997.

He moved to Munchengladbach in 1998 for an estimated fee of £500,000 and still has another 12 months on his contract to run.

Allardyce is just delighted that Hagner has arrived in Copenhagen after the disappointment of Wednesday when several other hopefuls failed to turn up at the airport.

Hagner will be one of a number of trialists in Allardyce's team to face Claus Jensen's old club Lyngby who finished seventh in Denmark's top division last season.

Dutchman Rob Maas, former Cameroon international Alphonse Tchami and Nottingham Forest's Ian Woan are again out to try and win a permanent deal.

"It should be an easier game than it was against Brondby," says Jensen who declined to comment on a possible big money move to Ipswich.

"But they will probably be sharper than us because they're further into their pre-season programme. However, the result doesn't really matter at this stage.

"If you do well in a game then it's a bonus. For us it's all about getting fit."

Jensen is likely to be named skipper for the day as Bo Hansen was against his former team-mates Brondby on Wednesday night. The match kicks-off at 2pm local time.
