A NEW service giving information on the childcare provision available to parents in Little Hulton, Worsley, Walkden and Boothstown was launched this week.
Salford Children's Information Project (SCIP) is an easy to access information service listing the different childcare facilities available in the city -- such as childminders or out of school clubs.
Cllr Roger Jones, Salford Council's lead member for education, said: "Having up to date information on childcare is essential for many parents.
"Armed with the latest information they can make informed choices on any job opportunities that might be available as well as being able to choose the provision which best suits their particular circumstances."
SCIP has been developed by Salford's Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership as part of the National Childcare Information Strategy.
The service is available on the Childcare Link website: www.childcarelink.gov.uk or the SCIP helpline on 0161 837 1836.
Further information on the work of the SCIP can be obtained from Veronica Bland, project manager, on 0161 837 1789.
