LEIGH Centurions are re-doubling their efforts to secure the long-term Hilton Park futures of several of their star performers. Many of the senior squad complete their existing contracts at the end of the season and coach Paul Terzis is working on putting new deals in place.

Terzis says: "Some players' contracts are up for renewal and renegotiation. We must plan for the future and gets these players tied up as quickly as possible."

Full-back Stuart Donlan and hooker Mick Higham are just two of the hottest properties that the Centurions are keen to hang on to.

Donlan, last season's Northern Ford Premiership Young Player of the Year, has another year on his current deal to run but is believed to have an 'escape' clause in his contract should a Super League club make an approach.

Higham has been regular first choice all season, displacing Anthony Murray, and is currently the team's top try scorer. Fully fit squad

"Things are progressing well in the talks with Mick," says Terzis. "He's keen to stay and we're keen to keep him. We're not too far away and hopefully we'll be able to make some announcements in the next couple of weeks."

Meanwhile Terzis turns his attention to Sunday's home game against Whitehaven with virtually a fully fit squad at his disposal.

"We're keen to make it five league wins on the bounce and maintain the pressure at the top of the table," he says.

Terzis has studied Whitehaven's home victory over Oldham last weekend but wasn't over-impressed.

"I thought they were lucky with a few of their tries and while they have one or two handy players, there are others who don't seem of the same standard.

"I'm fully aware that they beat Leigh up at Whitehaven earlier in the season, but they are nowhere near the same force away from home." The Centurions' roadshow will be out again tomorrow morning at the Spinning Gate Shopping Centre from 10.30am.

The entire first team squad will be out meeting the public, handing out free souvenirs, organising games and offering discounted tickets for Sunday's game
