THE search is on for a beautiful bouncing baby from yesteryear whose picture is being used to advertise a fair in aid of baby monitoring equipment.

Event organisers stumbled on the picture in an antiques shop and decided to use the image to promote a craft fair this Saturday, May 20, at Hollinshead Street United Reformed Church.

The picture was taken in 1902 and organisers are now desperate to find the whereabouts of the person, or their relatives, to invite them to the event as a guest of honour.

John Holden, of Chorley Astley Rotary Club, who is co-ordinating the event, explained: "We had the idea of holding a craft fair to help raise money for baby monitoring equipment for Chorley Hospital.

"And to try and attract attention to the event, I thought of using a picture of something different. "I stumbled across this picture of a beautiful baby in an antiques shop some time ago, so I decided to use it."

John added: "The amount of people who took an interest in the picture was tremendous. Everyone kept saying what a beautiful baby it was.

"Of course, the person in the picture would be about 98 years old now, but we are desperate to either find the person or the relatives so we can invite them down to the event."

John hopes to raise as much money as possible from the event, with each baby monitor costing around £500 each.

The craft fair starts at 10am with a total of 20 stalls. There will be demonstrations of wood turning, lace making and a spinning wheel.

Admission is only 50p with all proceeds going towards the baby monitors.

"If anyone recognises the picture of the baby, I would be very grateful if they could get in touch with me as soon as possible on 271924."
