THE number of MPs backing Lindsay Hoyle's campaign for pensioners has rapidly increased.
The Chorley MP tabled an Early Day Motion calling on the Government to use part of the windfall from the auction of the third generation of mobile phone licences to increase the basic state pension and provide free TV licences for all pensioners.
Mr Hoyle said: "I am delighted that so many colleagues have supported this motion. I am sure that pensioners in Chorley and throughout the country would also like to see the extra revenue spent in this manner.
"I will lobby the Government hard on this issue to ensure that we treat our elderly citizens in the manner they deserve and provide them with a better quality of life."
