'£8M boost to southern side of town', blazed the BEN headline.

Good, I thought, at last a council planner has left the Town Hall and turned south. When I read the details I found that the plan only covered the area as far as Trinity Street, 200 yards form the Town Hall.

Still, it was a step in the right direction. Who knows? Some time he may venture as far as the neglected Burnden and Great Lever. Perhaps by the end of the next century, he may discover Kearsley and Little Lever.

Incidentally, is there any one of your readers who can justify the fact that Blackrod, Horwich and Westhoughton have their own councils to put their residents points of view, and such areas as Breightmet, Kearsley and Little Lever do not?
