Little Hulton and Walkden could be joined together under a shake-up in the number of community committees operating throughout Salford.
The committees have been running for four years and enable councillors, officers, traders and residents to get together.
But under a review carried out by a working party, as part of a modernisation of local government, the committees will now follow ward boundaries- cutting the numbers of committees from 12 to nine.
The changes will bring together Little Hulton and Walkden into one group, comprising the areas of Little Hulton, Walkden North and Walkden South.
Boundaries
Worsley and Boothstown remain as one group due to the population increase over the last decade and the likelihood that there will be adjustments to boundaries in the near future,
Committee business will centre around the Community Action Plans which will follow three main themes: Economic Development; Living Environment; and Social Inclusion.
Within these themes there will be five sub-headings. These are: Tackling Crime - crime reduction strategy; Improving Health; Tackling Poverty; Investing in Children and Young People - local version of youth strategy and early years development, together with childcare plan; and Strengthening the Community - local version of the Capacity Building Strategy.
