LEIGH RMI's most realistic quest for silverware this season is put to the test at Hilton Park tonight when Runcorn are the visitors in the first leg of the President's Cup semi final. All three of manager Steve Waywell's signings, Tony Black, Steve Tobin and Andy Grimshaw are all registered, and will all figure as the Railwaymen's boss continues with his plans to rotate his squad.

With the return of defender Stuart Locke, Waywell has a strong and confident squad to choose from, having scored eight goals in their last three games, and they have only lost two in the last 16 matches.

A run that has taken them into the top half of the Premiership with games in hand, a complete contrast to Runcorn, who are third from bottom and destined to be involved in the relegation fight. Centre back Steve Dixon returns to the Atherton LR defence for tonight's trip to North Western Trains League Division One table-toppers Mossley.

The highly rated young defender has been out for nearly three months with a serious leg injury. Initial fears of a break proved unfounded but serious ligament damage has needed time to heal.

Tonight's opponents currently lead the race for Unibond promotion by two points. Atherton Colls' manager, Alan Lord, has vowed to add new blood to his side for the trip to Skelmersdale United.

The Alder House boss has seen his defence leak 13 goals in just two games and the current next-to-bottom plight worsens with each defeat.

His defenders will be up against in-form striker Stuart Rudd. The former Daisy Hill forward has adjusted well to moving up a division and currently sits on 24 goals for the season.
