EIDUR Gudjohnsen is expecting to be back on the bench as Wanderers bid to pick up their promotion challenge tomorrow, despite his heroics at Swindon. "I wouldn't say I'm aiming for a starting place straight away," the determined young Icelander admitted after heading the equaliser that rescued a point at the County Ground and increased the pressure on regular strike duo Dean Holdsworth and Bob Taylor.

"To be fair, our two strikers have done really well. But I'm certainly happy to have clinched the point.

"Now I hope to be on the bench again."

The 20-year-old Iceland international got the nod ahead of Bo Hansen for the subs' shirt on Saturday on the strength of his impressive two-goal performance in the reserves at Wolves last week and, although Todd says the £1 million Dane could be back in the reckoning against Barnsley, he will find it difficult to ignore Gudjohnsen's claim. "I hope I am on the bench again," he said. "It's been either me or Bo since he arrived and I'm certainly pleased that I underlined what I can do.

"Bo's arrival didn't set me back because the manager said he wanted four strikers and was looking for competition. If I do the best I can every day and every week, I think I ought to be in the squad. If not then others come in."

Todd confirmed that it was Gudjohnsen's performance at Wolves that led to him making only his second league appearance of the season but offered Hansen encouragement when he said: "Bo was left out but there are always opportunities round the corner for everyone."

Wanderers have dismissed speculation linking Dean Holdsworth with a move back to London and the Premiership.

Colin Todd reacted to rumours of an approach from Charlton Athletic with a contemptuous: "It's a waste of time even talking about it."
