CHILDREN from the Farnworth area are taking an active role in improving play facilities at Moses Gate with the help of Huddersfield artist Jan Harley.
Jan has been working with the children in various schools, including All Saints, Harper Green and Little Lever, making models and paintings to decorate a rundown play area in Hall Lane.
And, this week the artistic group completed their work during a series of workshops held at Devon Street Scout Hut.
The Moses Gate park receives its facelift after All Saints Residents Association made a successful bid for funding to Bolton Council. The scheme awarded the association £25,000 last year to replace broken play equipment and upgrade the park using ideas put forward by the children who intend to use it.
Three days of workshop discussions enabled the children, who were on half term holidays, and Jan to explore different themes for the park, including local history and wildlife.
Bricks donated by Ibstock Bricks, St Helens, provided a blank canvas for the children to carve their ideas, which will eventually be incorporated into the finished design.
