THE cost of using Bolton's sports and leisure centres is set to go up in a bid to bring in extra cash.
Leisure services committee councillors are tonight expected to make cuts to their budget of £280,000.
The cost of using leisure centres will go up above the rate of inflation to an average of 9.4pc to raise £50,000.
The cost of dying will also go up, with above-inflation rises to cemetery and crematorium fees to bring in £30,000.
Pavilions
There will also be £48,000 saved in closing two park bowling greens at Tonge Fold and Darley Park, Farnworth, which are not well used and in removing play equipment at five parks where new facilities have been provided nearby.
There will also be a reduction in the cleaning of sports pavilions and there will be £12,000 of administrative savings.
Cllr Gerry Riley, leisure services committee chairman, said: "I don't like having to make any cuts at all.
"They are not as bad as in previous years, but it is still bad enough."
