A STUNNING Bolton girl is the star of the Internet's first ever soap opera - Launderama.

Ruth Higham, from Harwood, has been chosen to play Glo White - the soap's bubbly, blonde bombshell, who has a passion for Dr Beckman, a diminutive, ginger-haired boffin in a very, of course, white coat.

Launderama is the brainchild of washing specialists, Bolton-based ACDO, and already has a regular audience estimated at more than 100,000.

A couple of months ago, ACDO launched a nationwide search for a Glo White look-alike to take Launderama on a tour of universities.

Ironically they had to look no further than Bolton and according to a spokesman for ACDO, Ruth's striking resemblance to glamorous Glo is amazing. The 21-year-old professional model, who dates Cops' star, Jack Marsden, says: "My mum saw an article in the Bolton Evening News, launching the search for Glo White.

"I sent my picture in and before I knew it I'd been chosen. It's fantastic."

Launderama - with its outlandish characters, off-the-wall plot lines, humour, pathos and intrigue - has proved amazingly popular with students but it's Glo White who receives the most fan mail. One smitten chap even wrote asking for a date.

Ms White makes her debut today at Manchester University before embarking on a national tour.

Former Canon Slade High School pupil Ruth, who has appeared on TFI Friday, Cops and a host of magazine covers, said: "I'm having a fantastic time and love changing into my alter ego, Glo White."

Launderama, on the ACDO website, can be accessed on www.acdo.co.uk.
