ANYTHING which helps to control Bolton's stray dog problem is welcome.

The idea of all pet dogs in the town having identity microchips implanted might be worth a try. But we share with Cllr John Hanscomb the fear that the red tape required by the council to keep tabs on the dogs would be considerable. We also question whether the cost of this might be prohibitive.

More detailed information needs to be known before such a scheme is implemented.
