IT looks as if Tony Blair's government is collapsing around him.

It is breathtaking that those who serve us believe they have the utmost integrity. It is true that power corrupts and that what they do no one else has a say in the matter. Yet, what causes the most anger is the conviction with which they dismiss the thought that they have done no wrong. How come, supposedly intelligent people fail to understand how their actions appear devious to those of us looking in from the outside.

The public have been conned into thinking that Labour would be open, honest and whiter than white.

So why it is George Robertson, Ron Davies, Nick Brown and now Peter Mandelson have all blotted their copy book and now Foreign Secretary Robin Cook is braced for a new round of revelations about his love life when his former wife, Margaret, publishes her memoirs next month.
