WHOLESALE resignations and sackings from the White House are being predicted as the Watergate bugging inquiry begins to involve the most senior of President Nixon's aides. The total White House operations structure is reported near breakdown with the aides split into opposing camps. Nixon's advisers face not only the threat of disgrace as a result of the break-in and bugging last June 17 of the Democratic Party's Watergate headquarters, but also the possibility of criminal charges from the grand jury probing the case.

SIR,- How is it that in parks in other towns children can enjoy swings, see-saws, etc., quite freely (the facilities being provided by the Corporation) yet in Bolton we have to have a private individual providing these at threepence for three minutes.

Your correspondence last night speaks truly of the position of Moss Bank Park, and we have seen before our eyes the spoiling of Bolton's fairest gem. How long are the people of Bolton to keep quiet about this?

I still believe that Sunday games was the beginning of the end for Moss Bank Park and its surroundings. Yours etc., Disgusted.

SIR,- I regret to see that a procession is contemplated as part of the programme for the visit of the Prince and Princess of Wales, and as one who took part in the inauguration of the Crompton Statue will remember the five hours tedious walk up and down the streets of Bolton at the funeral pace as one of the miseries of his life, and one to be escaped from for the future. It surely cannot be expected that the Prince and Princess will, or should be expected to subject themselves to such a perambulation. To be led about the thoroughfares like a Dancing Bear to be exhibited as much as possible in order to remunerate to showman is a most outrageous idea, and should at once be scouted. In Manchester, on the occasion of Royal visits, the procession consists of Royal personages, their suite, their military escort, and the authorities. Wigan will be the same according to the reported programme, and the societies will line the thoroughfares, which should also be railed off on each side of the route. Trusting that my one eye sees clearly the common sense view, I am, yours &s, Cyclops.
