FORMER Bury favourite David Johnson was today playing mind games ahead of his return to Gigg Lane tomorrow.
Quicksilver striker Johnson goes into a game vital to both Ipswich and Bury's futures as the season's top scorer for both clubs.
Victory for Ipswich, who will be backed by 2,000 travelling supporters, will ensure them a play-off place while one point for Bury would guarantee their First Division survival.
In a glowing tribute to Shakers centre halves Chris Lucketti and Paul Butler, Johnson suggested he is unlikely to add to his prolific goalscoring exploits against his formidable former defensive team-mates.
"I know just how good Chris and Paul are. I was in the Bury team which beat Nottingham Forest when they totally dominated Pierre Van Hoojdonk and Kevin Campbell.
"If they can handle the best strikeforce in the division then I don't think I will worry them too much."
Ipswich boss George Burley echoed Johnson's words, saying: "Lucketti and Butler are two of best central defenders in the division. Bury are a big strong side and we can look forward to an aerial bombardment
Johnson added: "They had a dip in the middle of the season but are finishing strongly.
"It is a great credit to the club that they look like staying in the division and they deserve it. They are a great bunch of lads with a great team spirit."
