BOLTON will be making its streets come alive with a festival of entertainment on May 24.

As part of the Greater Manchester-wide Streets Ahead festival, Bolton is laying on a Sunday of free street entertainment for all the family.

The fun begins at noon with a parade leaving Victoria Square and continues until 4pm with Street Festival Madness.

Organisers promise the "wackiest afternoon of the year" with Argentina's own superman Loco Brusca, French artists Pyramide and an acrobat climbing a 15ft pole on someone's shoulders.

Also in the line up are Cajan and Skat music, Chilean panpipes and wizards and monstrous creations will be strolling between Le Mans Crescent and Market Street.

For more information phone Bolton 364333.

Bury will be joining in the entertainment by holding a street festival on the afternoon of Monday May 4 and following it with street animation from French group Cacahuete and local performers on Saturday May 16.
