Chorley Nissan League FIRST Division Clayton Orient recorded their second cup semi final win of the season.

In the Mitre Trophy they met Bolton-based Brooklyn Athletic, and the deadlock was broken on 37 minutes when Ashcroft blasted home through a crowded goalmouth to give Orient the lead.

Brooklyn levelled on half time, Williams converting a penalty after Stott was bundled over in the box.

Six minutes after the restart Ashcroft netted his second, firing home from an acute angle. All the chances were falling to on form Orient and it was a surprise when Payne extended their lead and sub Sharrock put the result beyond doubt five minutes from time, firing home from 20 yards.

Athletic did pull a goal back against the run of play when McMorrow bundled the ball over the line just two minutes from time.

DUKE of York will meet Clayton in next Sunday's final (at Coppull United FC) after they saw off the challenge of Springfield by three goals to two. Curwen hit home two, and Purnell also netted for Duke. Taylor and Darbyshire replied for Springfield.

In Division One Red Herring recorded their first league win of the season at the 15th attempt, with Brookes helping himself to a hat trick which was perfectly complemented by Holt as Black Horse became their first victims.

Duhcan and Draper replied for Black Horse.

Farmers Arms' unbeaten league record came to an end as two second half goals from Faunch and Wilson gave Brookes arms a deserved victory.
