A CHARITY walker put his feet up for a well-earned rest after finishing a 100km hike in aid of Chorley Help The Homeless.

Brian Fisher, of Pennine Road, took to the hills for the two-day Surrey Summits walk, which included a 10-hour night hike through a forest.

Brian said: "It must have been a very difficult walk as walks go, because 201 people started and 54 dropped out.

"I was determined to finish and I think the walking I've put in since Christmas did the trick. Anglezarke is a good training ground!"

Brian, who has walked in the past in aid of Derian House and Cystic Fibrosis, has so far collected £560 in sponsorship money and has vowed to continue charity walks in the future.

He added: "I walk because I like doing it - none of us claim expenses for travelling or accommodation. I could be doing another one later this year.

"I'd like to thank everyone who sponsored me, including St James Church, Catterall and Wood Sheetmetal Works, and Bonney and Greenhalgh on Ashby Street."
