VILLAGERS in Brindle and Hoghton who have suffered increased pollution and noise levels since the M65 opened can claim compensation.

Residents living close to the motorway have complained since December about the fumes and noise caused by the link road traffic.

A statement issued by the Highways Agency said: "People with property between junctions one and six may have a claim for depreciation of their property.

"Claims may be made after 15 December, 1998, if the property has lost value because of nuisance."
