SIR: I agree with Christine Adams in her letter 'Double cross', but for different reasons.

In a letter before the General Election, Mrs Adams likened Tony Bair to an 'imitation Tory'. I do not see her problem along with your other right wing correspondents, as this government, albeit welcome, is a real right wing one.

I think the cuts in benefits and compulsory work schemes are wrong in principle. This would be expected from the Tories. Mrs Adams always writes in the same format, mentioning the word 'Labour' several times.

What we need is a true Socialist Labour Party of the Clement Attlee type, who brought in the National Health Service. Is Mrs Adams covered by BUPA? I feel the National Health amenities would not be good enough for her.

As for Margaret Thatcher sorting the country out again, well Mrs Adams must want us to go back to the days when the working classes were in tatters, working long hours with nothing to show for it, and without union protection.

Of course the Conser- vatives do not con the public, do they?
