Leigh RMI 4, Spennymoor Utd 2 KEITH Evans wishes he could play against Spennymoor every week after taking his season's tally to 16 in Leigh RMI's 4-2 win at Hilton Park last night.

He scored twice to halt the Railwaymen's mini slump, just as he did back in August when he helped Leigh to a 3-0 win in the North East.

It keeps their runners-up hopes alive with just four games remaining.

For the second time in four days, the Railwaymen found themselves with a numerical advantage. But unlike Saturday, when they lost against a nine-man Alfreton side, they made no mistake after Karl Black was sent off on the stroke of half time for an assault on Graham Hill.

"We exploited the space better against Spennymoor than we did at Alfreton," said Evans. "But they must be my lucky side because I always seem to do well against them.

"If we can finish with two wins and Boston and Runcorn slip up along the way we can grab that second place and that will be a fantastic finish." Spennymoor took the lead when Gary Cowell's free kick cannoned off Evans, struck Hill and wrong footed keeper Ian Ogden.

Ian Barker levelled after with a solo run and Leigh took the lead 90 seconds after the restart when Martin James' deep corner was headed home by Evans on the back post.

Midway through the half, however, Lee Innes headed past Ogden from Gary O'Hara's cross.

RM regained the lead when Dave Ridings had a long range effort helped over the stranded Adrian Swan by Eric Rostron before Evans had the last word with the best goal of the match.
