BOLTON Wanderers star Alan Thompson launched an emotional appeal today for thieves to return a treasured cup medal. The Geordie midfield player was speaking after a second burglary bid on his Bolton home in the space of four months.

Thompson and his young family were relieved this morning when an overnight raid on his house was thwarted by a burglar alarm and security lights.

But he revealed that in an earlier break-in, thieves took his precious losers' medal from Wanderers 1995 Coca-Cola Cup Final at Wembley in which he scored a spectacular consolation goal for Wanderers in the 2-1 defeat by Liverpool.

"The burglary was just before Christmas but I only discovered the medal was missing last week," Thompson explained after being shaken by this morning's 3am burglary bid. "They'd taken pictures from the walls in the games room but they'd left other things like my First Division Championship medal from last year.

"The Coca-Cola Cup medal is the big thing though and I'd love to get it back. If anyone knows where it is or if they've had it offered to them, I'd like to know."
