LEIGH'S proposed Xanadu snow centre could become a white elephant because of the number of rival ski centres being given the go-ahead, the Green Party claims.
They are calling for the project, near Pennington Flash country park, to be abandoned as there will soon be too many centres for the Leigh one to remain viable.
The party says there will be five major ski centres within a 50 mile radius.
The new Yorkshire Xanadu will be just 45 miles away, Salford has a similar project to Leigh's just eight miles away, Haydock's is a mere four miles away and a Telford project is just a short trip down the motorway.
The Yorkshire site will be bigger than Leigh's and will include a wildlife park, shopping complex and other leisure facilities.
