SIR: I reply to C Adams (BEN April 1), who accused Labour of double crossing voters and commented about the missing pledge cards. Having just retrieved mine from my wallet, I would like to remind her that when I received it I was asked to judge Labour after a full term of office, and not 11 months. As for being double crossed, I have been extremely pleased at the speed this government wants to get things done, especially the news on cold weather payments to pensioners.

As for waiting lists, even C Adams must admit that the Tories ripped the heart out of the NHS, but I'm sure the £1.7 billion extra the government has given, will go some way to redressing the problem (double crossed twice already)! She then said that we need Mrs Thatcher to come back and sort the country out. May I remind her that it was her own Tory MPs who ousted Mrs Thatcher, and not we Socialists. That speaks for itself.
