A QUICK thinking cashier dived for cover and activated a panic alarm to foil a post office raider.
She threw herself to the ground when she was confronted by a thug brandishing a pistol at a sub post office in Bolton Road, Atherton, last night.
The thug fled empty handed when the cashier managed to reach a panic button to raise the alarm.
Detectives say the raider is white, 5ft 5ins tall, in his mid 20s, slight build, dark hair, wearing a black polo neck ribbed jumper and black bob hat.
