SIR: I refer to the article headed: Death trap school buses (April 4).
We are on the busy routes which serve the Royal Bolton Hospital. People with all manner of disabilities have to negotiate platforms with as many as four or five prams crowding the entrance. It's bad enough for agile people. I had to negotiate recently near the back wheels to leave the bus.
Near Mount St Joseph's School, about 40 children and teachers crowded on an already overloaded bus. Whose decision that was, I do not know.
I wrote to Greater Manchester Transport in February informing them of crowding on platforms. So far, nothing has changed.
Entrance and exit platforms should be clear at all times, no more than two prams should be allowed and those should be folded and paid for. A printed notice should be prominently displayed with rules to that effect.
