WATSON Steel has landed a £3.5 million design and build contract in Wigan.
The Lostock company's latest project is Wigan's new football stadium at Robin Park.
The 25,000 seater stadium will be built on a landfill site and will involve the fabrication and erection of 2,950 tonnes of steel.
The new Wigan ground will have 10 metre exposed triangular main roof girders which curve over the two long stands.
Watson, who played a major part in the construction of Bolton's Reebok Stadium, will be on site in Wigan at the start of June.
The main contractor is Alfred McAlpine Special Projects and the architect is Atherden Fuller Leng.
The engineer is Shepherd Gilmour and the employer's joint agents are Archer Partnership and Robinson Low Francis.
