GAETANO Giallanza is determined to secure a Premiership future for Wanderers.

The Swiss-born Italian, who made an eye-catching, almost heroic debut in the heat of Saturday's grandstand finish at the Reebok, admits it's looking grim in the battle to beat the drop, but he refuses to throw in the towel.

"It is not over yet!" Giallanza insisted as he surveyed the survival scene in which Wanderers are three points adrift of fourth-bottom Spurs. "But we have to take maximum points from our last three games.

"If Tottenham win their last three, we can't do any more. But they only drew on Saturday so that helped us a little bit.

"All we can do is win the three games and then see what happens. We have got to stay cool and keep our confidence high."

Giallanza, signed on loan from French club FC Nantes until the end of the season, had to wait until the closing minutes of the Leeds game to get his first taste of English football. He made an instant impression with his positive approach and helped spark a last-ditch rally in which Mark Fish pulled the score back to 3-2 with his first goal for the club.

The striker, whose family originated in Sicily, thought he had snatched a dramatic last-minute equaliser until the 'goal' was disallowed for offside.

There has been some dispute about the decision with Colin Todd claiming referee Jeff Winter later admitted he did not see an offside but gave the decision on the linesman's say.

Nevertheless, Giallanza is undaunted in his determination to take the survival fight right to the wire.

"I came here to help Bolton stay in the Premiership and that is what I still want to do," he added.

If he gets the chance to continue where he left off on Saturday, Giallanza could secure himself a permanent move - 12 months after joining Nantes from Swiss club Basle in a £1.3 million transfer.

Wanderers have run the rule over Bjorn Goldbaek, who is in the Denmark international squad with Per Frandsen.

But Todd says he has no plans to sign the 29-year-old midfielder, who is currently with Frandsen's old club FC Copenhagen.
