A BOLTON businessman believes he has become the victim of a vendetta after a £200 advertising campaign was wrecked.

Just weeks after vandals smashed down signs to Sandy Holt's Thai Boxing Club on Brown Street, his expensive banners strung across the town - advertising a major charity event - were ripped to shreds.

Club Secretary Marie Fitzsimmons is now convinced that a vendetta is being waged against the club.

She said: "Surely these people must realise that they are hitting the charity, not just the club?"

In the latest wrecking spree, expensive rubber banners, the result of painstaking artwork by local volunteers, were cut up.

One of the banners, draped across Horwich Leisure Centre, has been stolen. Two others, on Halliwell Road, were ripped down and slashed with a knife. The club was attempting to advertise a charity Thai Boxing Night on Saturday.

Champion Thai boxer and club owner Sandy Holt will be trying to break the British Record for press ups and fighters from all over the country have promised to attend the charity event raising cash for children in Bolton with leukaemia.

Marie said: "We think it is someone who is jealous and wants to frighten us off in some way.

"Last time someone smashed up all our signs, costing us £300. This time they have ruined a £200 advertising campaign."

The Fight Night starts at 6pm and tickets, costing £10 before the event or £12 on the door, are available by ringing the club on Bolton 395807.
