THE voice of a children's charity in Bolton, singer Jean Pasquill, is promising a night of rip-roaring comedy to raise cash for needy kids.

The 34-year-old vocal entertainer is organising a charity night with a difference on Friday at Rumworth Labour Club - with drag queens top of the bill.

Drag artists Gemini 'N' Jay and Ginger Valentine will be flaunting their talents, and other attractions on the night will include Bolton Wanderers mascot Lofty, and a double act by Jean with Breightmet singer Samantha Elka.

Jean, of Lobelia Avenue, Farnworth, has been raising cash for the charity, Childflight, over the last 12 months.

The charity aims to provide flights and holidays for sick children, and cash from the local event will go towards making dreams come true for 52 children in 1999.

Mother-of-four Jean, who was voted best female entertainer of 1997 by Manchester clubland bosses, decided to raise cash for the charity after her next door neighbour's son, Daniel Green, aged 10, was treated to a charity flight at Christmas.

Since then she has organised a number of events, including a variety night at The Rose and Crown in Bolton Road, Westhoughton, raising £800.

Jean's future plans also include dragging an 18ft aeroplane, donated by Childflight, through the streets of Westhoughton in August to raise money.

Tickets for the Friday event at the St Helens Road Labour club cost £2.50 and are available from Jean on 01204 430683.
