A TICKET stub from one of Bolton Wanderers' most famous footballing victories has been bought by the town's museum bosses - for £320.

The stub from the 1923 FA Cup final, in which Bolton beat West Ham 2-0, was secured via a postal bid in an auction of sporting memorabilia in Glasgow.

The stub will be displayed in the museum and was bought on the strength of the 1923 cup final being the first which was played at Wembley.

The game, in which footballing legends David Jack and JR Smith scored the winning goals, was the first of three Wembley triumphs for the Wanderers, 1926 and 1929 being the others.

It was widely remembered as the "White Horse" final when a lone policeman astride a white horse cleared the pitch of the thousands of fans who poured into the ground to watch the game without paying at the turnstile.

The 1923 cup final is regarded as one of the greatest victories the Wanderers have enjoyed in their 124-year history.

The stub will be put on display this week.
