PUPILS and teachers at Turton High School collected more than 100 Christmas boxes for children in war-torn countries.
Pupil Helen Vickers and some friends got together and spoke to their assistant head of year, Miss Claire Frackelton, who then contacted Samaritans Purse International for information about the boxes.
Helen and the other year 11 pupils - Joanne Croxson, Catherine Jackson, Lauren Walker and Jessica Childs - organised the project, held assemblies, sent letters home and organised a lunchtime collection.
A member of staff, Mr Stuart Morgan, is the leader of St John's 33rd scout group and the scouts joined in with the school and raised 20 completed boxes for the project.
Turton High School collected 134 completed Christmas boxes and £300 was raised for the project.
