SIR: You recently carried the story of a 14-year-old girl who was raped twice after being abducted from a night club. I am sure that most people will hope that the rapists are caught soon and punished adequately
This is one of several similar cases over recent years. The common factor has been young girls on licensed premises at late hours. I know I am old fashioned but is there not a case for saying that 14-year-olds should be tucked up in bed at home at 10.30 pm? Are any licensed premises suitable places for children? Are night clubs suitable places for children with their drink/drugs/sex culture? Are parents and society not failing children when they allow them into such places at such times?
