RESIDENTS in Leigh and Wigan Council have joined forces to get rid of an anti-social neighbour.

The teenage girl tenant was alleged to have had "many visitors" who were seen injecting drugs as well as creating noise and having abusive confrontations with neighbours.

Tenants on the Westleigh estate gave evidence at Leigh County Court against the 19-year-old when the council took action to gain a possession order.

The teenager has been evicted and is banned from applying for council housing in the future.

"This case demonstrates what can be achieved when residents and the housing department work together to deal with such problems," said a spokesman for Westleigh tenants' and residents' group.

A council spokesman said: "The supportive evidence of the residents was very important and we thank them for their help and co-operation."
