SIR: Through the columns of your newspaper, could you please thank people for the kindness and consideration shown to me on December 24, 1997, around midday in Bridgewater Road, Walkden, when the police officer, driving a blue police van, stopped to help me with my scooter.
Unfortunately, with a stream of traffic behind me, and people looking on , (I suffer from emphysema), I panicked, but a man and his son came to help, so would you thank them too on my behalf.
The officer took the scooter and myself back home, so I thank him most sincerely.
