THE Trafford Centre will comprise four interconnected areas - Regent Crescent, Peel Avenue, The Orient and Festival Village.

The latter is for niche retailers selling unusual and speciality products.

SELFRIDGES, London's famous Oxford Street retailer, is the largest store at the Centre.

Others including Debenhams, Boots, C&A and BHS. Selfridges and Debenhams will employ 1,000 people between them.

A MASSIVE foodcourt in The Orient will provide seating for 1,600 diners served by fast food outlets.

LANDSCAPING will include 100 40-year-old conifers from mainland Europe and 1,000 semi-mature trees.

AN employment charter seeks to boost job opportunities for local and unemployed people.

THE developers claim that the standard of architectural finish at the Centre will be far superior to anything yet seen in UK retailing.

There will be 45,000 square metres of marble and granite which will cost £5.8 million.

WORK has started on the first development at the nearby regional sports complex - a tennis to fitness development by the Hampshire-based Racquets and Healthtrack Group which will include nine indoor tennis courts, seven outdoor courts, six badminton courts, three squash courts, a 13,000 square foot gymnasium and a 25 metre training pool.

There will also be a 15 metre leisure pool, health and beauty salon, aerobics studio, sun bed suite, steam room and sauna, creche, restarant and bar.
