A DRIVER had to be cut free from the wreckage of his car after a head-on crash in Dunscar last night.
Alan Giles, 67, was trapped in his Rover 820 after the crash in Blackburn Road, near the junction with Longworth Lane.
Mr Giles, of Blackburn Road, Bolton, suffered facial cuts and whiplash injuries. He was "comfortable" in the Royal Bolton Hospital today. His wife, Joan, 48, a front seat passenger, suffered a broken sternum. She is recovering in the same hospital.
They were involved in an accident with a Rover 218 being driven by Michael Taylor, 29, of Littlebourne Walk, Sharples.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident which happened at 10pm last night. Call 0161 872 5050.
