BOLTON Community Education Service is offering people the chance to study at their own pace and in their own way.

A series of Open Learning sessions are being held in the Deane, Derby, Daubhill Learning Resource Centre.

Open Learning courses give people the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification - RSA, CLAIT 1 and GCSE - by working through specially designed learning packs using the facilities at the centre.

Would-be students can enrol at any time of the year. The course fee from January 5 is £26.50, £6.50 concessions, free for benefit claimants, plus CES registration fee of £5 and £2 for materials.

People can attend for one session each week. Sessions are available on Monday afternoons from 1pm to 2.30pm, Tuesday evening from 6pm to 7.30pm and 7.30pm to 9pm, Thursday afternoon from 2pm and 3.30pm, and Friday morning 10am to 11.30am.

Daytime classes are supported by a creche and places must be booked in advance.

There is also an opportunity to study for GCSE Maths and English which requires attending a 20 minute tutorial fortnightly.
