A POLICE officer was injured when his patrol car careered out of control early today as he responded to an emergency call.
The car veered off Crompton Way, Bolton, and crashed into a bus stop before ploughing into trees.
The officer escaped from the crash suffering only general bruising.
He was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital but was later allowed home after treatment.
The accident happened at 2.45am as the traffic officer was driving toward Halliwell Road to investigate a report of intruders in a nearby home.
No other vehicle was involved in the crash.
