SIR: I write in response to the article published on page 5 of the Bolton Evening News on Wednesday, November 26, 1997. The contents of the article were accurate, but the overall impression was misleading. At the end of the hearing my legal representatives made it clear that an application would be made on the following Friday, November 14, four days after the disqualification, for leave that I may be allowed to continue to act as director and in a chief executive capacity in my new business.

At both the hearing leading up to the disqualification and on the subsequent application that I be allowed to continue to act as a director, it was accepted by the Department of Trade and Industry (the prosecuting authority), that I played a minor role in the running and administration of Mitchell Freight Services Ltd. This was reflected in the period of disqualification being less than that imposed upon the other directors and the fact that my application to the court was granted and that I am allowed to continue to act as a director in my current business.

Your report on November 26 last omitted any reference to my application for leave to act as a director being granted by the court.

I would be grateful if you would kindly publish this letter as soon as possible to set the record straight.
