SIR: As Christmas approaches, I ask the people of Bolton to give a thought for the homeless of our town. I also appeal, in the name of humanity, for them to give whatever they can in support of charities for the homeless. As we enjoy the material and spiritual aspects of the festive season, we must not forget that our fellow townsfolk are in need of help.
Also our local MPs can help by pressing for more government action on homelessness. The Government needs to work to establish the nexus of cause and effect in relation to homelessness; and to co-ordinate resources, in order to find short and long term solutions to this most pressing of social problems.
