DAVID Lloyd Leisure has now submitted detailed plans for an upmarket £10m health and fitness centre on the former Bolton Royal Infirmary site.

They include seven indoor tennis courts, six outdoor, an indoor and an outdoor 25 metre swimming pool, four badminton courts and three squash courts.

There would also be a fitness workout area, an aerobic studio, a health and beauty spa, a hairdresser and a sports shop.

In addition, there would be a restaurant, coffee shop and facilities for children including a creche and an outdoor play area.

The scheme is due to go before Bolton's planning control sub committee for a decision on October 23.

If it is given the go-ahead, the scheme is expected to create around 200 new jobs.

It could also be the second major tennis plan for Bolton.

Last year, plans were revealed for an indoor centre at Middlebrook, near the Reebok stadium.

Council chiefs are waiting to hear whether a bid for lottery cash for that has been successful.
